Pizza Monkey Bread
Pizza Monkey Bread
True confessions time: I don’t really care about the Super Bowl. My husband always watches for the commercials but I really only give it a passing glance if one of the teams is someone I know matters to friends or family.
I do, however, care about the food. Completely unhealthy food to go along with a party atmosphere as people gather to watch the game… that I am very interested in.
And this recipe fits the bill nicely. It’s unhealthy, cheesy, fun to eat, and easy to share.
Plus I totally copped out and used all store-bought things so it is pretty quick and easy to make.
Pizza Monkey Bread
The recipe is inspired by Zestuous’s Cheesy Garlic Bites
2 cans of pizza dough (I couldn’t find the pre-made stuff at my grocery store but if I could have I would have gotten one dough ball)
1 16 oz block of mozzarella (cubed)
3 tbsp olive oil
3 cloves garlic, rough chopped
pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
2 tbsp butter
1/4 cup white wine
1/4 tsp salt
1 can marinara sauce
First make your butter sauce. Sauté the garlic and red pepper in the olive oil for 1-2 minutes. Add in the butter and stir until completely melted.
Slowly pour in the white wine, being careful of splattering, and salt. Allow to simmer another 1-2 minutes, then turn off the heat.
Roll out the pizza dough and cut into roughly 2in by 2in squares.
Place a mozzarella cube in the center of each dough square and wrap to completely cover the cheese. Do your best to seal all of the edges.
Roll each dough ball into the butter sauce and place in a well greased bundt pan.
Once all the dough balls are in the bundt pan, pour the remaining sauce over them and bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for 35 – 40 minutes. The top should be golden brown and the cheese should be bubbling!
I had a little bit of extra cheese so I shredded that and added it into the pan before baking. If you don’t have any extra cheese I would recommend throwing on a handful of shredded mozzarella just to make it pretty and have some crunchy cheesy bits in there.
Allow the bread to cool for about five minutes in the pan while you heat up some sauce.
Carefully turn the bread over onto a plate and serve with the warm marinara sauce.
Perfect football game-watching food!
