Classic and simple, the Margherita pizza is a celebration of the flavors of Italy. With fresh mozzarella and basil, it's a perfect way to kick off National Pizza Month.
Ingredients: 1 pizza dough. 1/2 cup tomato sauce. 1 1/2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced. Fresh basil leaves. 2 cloves garlic, minced. Olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Set your oven to 475F 245C before you start cooking. On a floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a circle. Use a pizza stone or baking sheet to put the dough on. Spread the tomato sauce out evenly on the dough, but leave a little space around the edges for the crust. Put the mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Add the minced garlic and salt and pepper to taste. Add olive oil on top. Put it in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden. Take it out of the oven and add fresh basil leaves on top. Cut it up and serve it hot.
