Overall character :

Generally feared among mortals, like any underworld gods he is not called by his name. He is known to be respectful and is often by the side of many other gods.

Parentage :

Can get a little confusing, there are a lot of opinions on this. Its typically either:

Hades & Persephone

Hades & unnamed nymph (typically called Maria)

Hades & Lethe

Hades only

SOMETIMES Nyx or Nyx & Erebus

Most stick with Hades & Persephone.

Consorts :

Actually pretty straight forward.

Some people believe he has romantic relationships with Percy but for the most part he stays single : most likely a virgin god.

Though he is said to have children. Spirits of grief and despair known as the alímono (translates roughly to the woe). These spirits often take the form of monstrous animals. The most prominent two are a large spider (Enochí - guilt) reaching around his knee and a black hound (Ntropí - shame).

Cults :

Doesn’t really have any major influence in terms of cults. Though he just sorta shows up in other peoples cults including Aphrodite’s as many claim that he has a space as an erote : grief and longing are forms of love after all

Epithets :

Adesius - of the grave

Eubuleus - of good counsel / the consoler

The modern eye :

Pretty ignored in terms of modern retellings. His feats tend to be attributed to other people to make them look better e.g. beating Cupid with his own bow for daring to strike him with an arrow.

When he is put into retellings it’s to make others look better and they tend to just go with him being gay rather than acknowledging the complexity of him being a virgin cause GASP a man who doesn’t want sex?? The horror!!
