I just wanna say that my monthly shout-out post has been a bit delayed this month because the new tumblr layout doesn't let you edit the HTML of posts, meaning I have to manually insert the avatars of each user as I go.
I'm working on a nicer looking post as a result...
ANYWAY!
Hey guys (most notably my Patreon Supporters), this is justa quick update to explain a few changes I have made to my Patreon services, forthe majority of you it isn’t really going to change anything but it’s something I need to mention anyway and should you feel the need I’ll understand if you either wish to change your contribution amount or remove it completely.
Firstly, I don’t feel like exclusivity is any justification for payment.
I have always felt this way but couldn’t think of anything else I could offer people that would actually make them want to support me, I still can’t think of anything.
It’s on that note that I have removed virtually all exclusivity.
The contribution tiers are therefore dependent entirely on what you think I am worth and what expression of appreciation you want out of it as a result.
Second, the pledge tiers have therefore been adjusted a bit.
I feel that while having a private art stream is a good idea in theory, the reality is that I’ll get maybe one of you tuning in every couple of weeks and usually it ends up being a simple greeting before you tune out or go idle.
Therefore, the art stream is now open to the public and I will be posting on tumblr each time I go live so that it’s easier to be notified. I found that Patreon has a really annoying habit of signing me out constantly and while I don’t know if that’s affecting everyone else it kills my motivation to post updates there. I want to remove myself from its feed as much as possible.
Seeing as the art stream was the $2 tier beforehand I have decided to change it to another variation of public shout-outs in terms of the number of exposure it provides.
$1 gets you a mention in my Hall of Fame, entirely dependent on those who click in there to see what it’s all about.
$2 gets you a visual mention on my Twitch GameStomp Stream, all contributors will be mentioned one at a time while the on-screen boo throws fireballs to change the names that appears, entirely dependent on who is viewing at that point in time, or viewing archived replays.
$3 adds you to the Monthly Shout Out posts where I express my thanks to everyone at once and include their avatars, links to their blog and a caption of their choice to be included, this goes out to all of my followers’ feeds.
So as I said, nothing exclusive means that everyone has access to everything I do, but those of you that wish to support me will be mentioned in a number of ways, each costing you a dollar a month depending on how many you want.
Third, to my $5 supporters I have changed the tier just a little bit.
The “exclusive” content will instead be watermark-free versions of the animations I release publicly, so essentially the exact same content but without the border and website in the corner (unless the border is required to indicate things are happening off-screen).
High-Res images will still be posted but only if they actually look good. This means any item I make into a sticker or a print will be provided to you at the same resolution.
This content will be posted once per month during the Monthly Shout Out and will link to the private post on Patreon containing the download once you log in. This will be a lot more convenient for everyone.
So then!
This will provide me with a lot more flexibility when creating content.
My scheduling system is nice but it only really works for things like Twitch where I don’t have to rely on my mental state anywhere near as much, I’m not always feeling motivated to draw unfortunately.
Art is just going to be a whenever thing, still regular but just not on any given day and certainly not with any sort of obligations to produce content. One thing I can guarantee is that there will be at least 2-3 art posts a month and if you feel that’s worth the extra $2 on top of the shout-outs you receive then great!
Thanks to all of you once again!
Your support is always super appreciated and I want to offer as much as I can without taking the experience away from others that (for example), may not be old enough or fortunate enough to have access to online funds.
