for ko’s pokemon verse , i’ve decided he’s just a traveler who isn’t overly fond of battling , though he will if he has to , & his team is :
absol : main companion , travels outside the pokeball. he found her when he was ten , caught in a poacher’s trap & freed her / took care of her until she was physically fit again & the two formed a bond , causing her to choose to willingly accompany him. serves as something of a service pokemon in that she assists in removing komaeda / others from the situation should she feel a ‘ disaster ’ start to stir as a result of his luck cycle.
arcanine : raised from a growlithe ! the baby crawled into his bag in search of food & ko allowed him to stay. he may ride arcanine from time to time if he needs to cross really concerning terrain or get somewhere fast.
mimikyu : found the poor thing half - drowned in a fast - flowing river & rescued it. he took care of him until he was feeling better & him took to following him around until he eventually asked if he would like to join him & was permitted to put him in a pokeball.
banette : was followed around a city all night by the damn thing whilst ko pretended he had no idea she was hanging around. eventually just sat down and extended a hand to her and asked if she would like to tag along. banette attacked him , ko dealt with it , one thing lead to another now he has another companion.
darkrai : this is actually a bit long but the gist is they connected through unintentionally hurting people around them & darkrai put themselves in a pokeball , much to ko’s surprise.
haunter : met as a ghastly in an old , haunted mansion. little guy was scared of the thunder outside from a rather rough storm and ko ended up awake all night keeping him company. wound up catching him afterward & now they’re here.
