     they’d been in this weird secret relationship for awhile. not that they need to keep it secret. richie’s fully aware that half their friendship circle knows about them. they aren’t subtle by any means in the slightest. but it’s not like they have to be subtle. it’s winter break and neither of them are going back to home. back to their family. not yet, at least. but richie’s roommate had decided to leave for the break, so when his room was fully clear, all richie could do was drag eddie all the way to his dorm and slammed the door behind them, pushing his boyfriend up against the door with a very needy and not at all well behaved kiss.     “ we have the next three weeks to do literally anything,” he explains, with a smirk on his lips.  it doesn’t help that he’s worried that eddie might be convinced to go back to his mom and leave richie, but until he does, richie’s going to spend all his time he can with his boyfriend. it’s not like they get a whole lot of alone time. “ i can think about all the things i want to do, and they all start with the letter E. “ 

richie moved his hand up to push eddie’s shirt up and over his head, just taking his hands and tracing over his chest with a grin.   “ plus, it’s cold, wouldn’t you say you wanted to heat things up, eds? “

      richie is glaring at the other, before nudging him with his elbow. “ shut up, shortstack,   “  he mutters, not even paying attention to the fact that they’re in line with other human beings at derry’s local fourth of july carnival. he’s smiling though, and he can’t help but smile at eddie. he’s so fucking in love with this idiot and it’s just playful banter. that’s all it is. that’s all richie’s been telling himself back and forth.    “ eds, i could ride you all day, regardless of my height, “ he mutters into the other’s ear before pulling back and sliding his hands into his back pockets as the line continues to move. “ something tells me that you’d much rather be doing the riding,” he continues to talk.                                      “ i’ve got a better idea. you don’t need a ticket to ride the tozier coaster. plus, it’s known for it’s zero wait times. “ jesus christ, had he always been this cheesy? maybe with eddie. maybe only with eddie.

    audra smiles somewhat conspiratorially. “somehow i doubt that you’re going to have much of a problem doing that,” she says, elbowing him affectionately. “richie absolutely has it bad for you. one of you just needs to step up and say something!” it doesn’t even occur to her that eddie might be oblivious to richie’s feelings for him. in her mind, they’re so clearly in love that it’s only a matter of when it’ll happen.

“i understand that having a near-death experience can fundamentally change a person, but you might wanna tone down the pollyanna shit, eds.” after a real bitch of a recovery process, edward is back in fighting fashion, which means richie is free to dunk on him as often as humanly possible.

“seriously, man,” he continues, only picking up steam, “think about what happened to richard simmons. the dude literally dripped in positivity - sweat that shit out - and now look at him.” richie pauses for dramatic effect and gestures towards the empty space beside him. “oh yeah, you can’t. because he clearly lost his grip on reality and disappeared off the face of the fucking planet.” he crosses his arms in triumph, as if to say ‘i rest my case.’
