This is the same placenta from prior post. The membranes where pulled harrrdd. Usually the Chorion and Amnion as so tightly united that separating them can be difficult. But here, the level of traction it took to remove this placenta also called "medical management of birth/the placenta", was so hard that the thin membrane covering the fetal side just peeled off. Most times providers will inspect the placenta to make sure it all came out, turn the membranes inside out. This is why your seeing the maternal side vs the fetal. Why manage the placenta? Maybe the parent was bleeding a lot "hemorrhaging", maybe the provider wanted to get the work done quickly. So they give you "Pit"ocin if that doesnt work theyll move to cytotec. Usually that's what's needed to slow the bleeding and to deliver the placenta. There are other drugs that can be used but the side effects are bad ass. Thankfully, the babe and mom whose placenta this is, are doing great. Want to learn more? Dm me your email and I'll add you to my list. Once my class is ready to launch you'll get first dibs.
