Hey Charlotte! Quick one for you: does Plague Engineer naming Thopter prevent the traditional Thopter-Sword combo? I’ve heard different answers from different tournament-level sources. Thanks, and hope all’s well in your world.
Yes, it does.
With Plague Engineer on the battlefield to give all of your opponents’ Thopters -1/-1, the Thopters from Thopter Foundry will enter the battlefield as 0/0 creatures and immediately die. Since they’re not 1/1 creatures, Sword of the Meek won’t trigger from the graveyard and won’t return itself to the battlefield, stopping the combo dead in its tracks.
