jemima is actually the daughter of one of the plague ghosts but they don't know about her and assume she managed to avoid the plague and move on due to them both being in separate parts of the house. it isn't until alison mentions offhandedly how there's a kid ghost living there who also died of the plague that one of the plague ghosts says "wait, jemima?" that they all learn the truth
