Family headcanons for the ghosts:

Robin: Raised by a tribe after his mother died, never really understood the modern family structure until Mia was born

Mary: Middle child of eight, with parents who worked too hard to love each other. She knew that was no way to live, and was secretly relieved when she and her husband couldn’t have children.

Humphrey: Had a sister five years younger who he had to leave when he was betrothed to Sophie, when she was nine. His relationship with his parents was beyond stale, and grew worse when they refused to let him choose in his marriage, and he worried he wouldn’t be able to protect his sister from the same fate when he moved away. They exchanged letters, and she was the only one at his funeral (since he was believed to be an enemy to the crown).

Kitty: Known in canon

Thomas: No siblings, grew up very close to his parents and (thought he) grew close to his cousin when he was an adult

Fanny: Known in canon, only child

Captain: Father died when he was eight, leaving his mother to look after him and his brother (5) so he developed that sense of responsibility early on. His brother begged him not to go to war, and Havers personally delivered the news of his death to them.

Pat: Had an older brother (five years older) that made fun of him for being soft but still cared deeply for him.

Julian: Only child, parents shipped him off to boarding school since the age of seven. He met his wife at university.
