SoND is a beautiful song from INGS' (formerly known as Plaid Dragon) debut EP Dog Physics. Over ethereal noise and shimmering acoustic guitars, Inge Chiles lets out a poetic gasp that drifts and lulls like a lullaby.
The video splits from upside down shots of a woman running to save her identity to another getting engulfed in smoke. Inge says of the song, “In my mind I was addressing a dear friend who, as a woman, felt pressure to define herself according to whatever boy she was dating.” These shots build well upon themselves, following the female protagonist until the end when, in lieu of “some new dude”, she seeks to find herself.
Building from her Midwestern base, Ings is now branching out to play shows throughout the region, drawing praise from appearances at SXSW and preparing for a Fall tour in support of her full-length album, It’s However You Want it to Be, due out spring 2014. Check out the video above and enjoy!
