can I just....can I just say....although I thoroughly enjoyed the 1000stars finale....I was heartbroken by the suit styling at the wedding. I'm sorry Tian what is this fitting situation you have with the best, and the color matching??? also a vest without a tie is not a win for me. yod, rang, and Nam were alright but I expected more from phupha and Tian. they need to take lessons from whichever godly human is styling WBL, that's an eye candy masterpiece right down to
Zhe Yu's yummy jacket + no tie + unbuttoned shirt situation oof.
OMG. You and me are on the same page. (Or should that be “in the same suit?”)
(Image above: shoulder seams too wide meaning jacket is too big, sleeves too long, pants slightly too short and crotch drop too low, and not tailored in the legs at all. I feel like there is something else off with the proportions as well. He looks like a hotel concierge.)
All that fuss from Tian’s ma about the suit being tailored and the fit was SO BAD. And while I get that oversized tailoring is being influenced by k-pop right now (I blame the 90s, which blames the 30s, and so forth...) But that doesn’t extend to the length of the sleeves!! And it they were gonna do oversized they should have pushed all the way there. (Although it doesn’t suit Tian’s character at all. Pun intended.)
On the flip side I am LIVING for Shu Yi’s super tailored super skinny Japan-influenced suits in We Best Love: Fight Mr. 2nd. Lots of matched 3 pieces. I don’t mind it when a tie is left off in the workplace.
You know another one with GREAT suits?
HIStory 3: Trapped and those loud windowpane plaid checked numbers. I dream about those suits sometimes.
* A note to add: Thailand has issues with wardrobe and make up A LOT. I don’t mind if there is a current style trend happening that leaks into the drama (like with the Korean stuff e.g. Color Rush) or prevailing cultural aesthetic (Taiwan has a very specific casual urban style to all their stuff), but I don’t like being thrown out of the story because of costuming issues/choices, which happens A LOT in Thai and Vietnamese dramas. Thailand is NOTORIOUS for not blending and shading makeup properly, along jaw lines in particular.
Or they have super dull, ill fitting, dated, or character inappropriate costume choices. Over-the-top for the few female characters happens too. It’s one of the reasons I prefer a uniform in my Thai dramas.
