April 7, 2022 - Plain Softtail (Thripophaga fusciceps)
These ovenbirds are found in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, and Ecuador, in swamps and other forests, usually near water. Foraging acrobatically in pairs and small flocks, sometimes with other species, they eat arthropods, picking their prey from branches and leaves. They build globe-shaped nests with two entrance tubes in trees from dry leaves, shredded bark, grasses, palm fibers, and other materials.
