Eric Tierra-Sekai is a main character of Planet Kingdoms and the reincarnation of Prince Endymion from the Kingdom of Terra. He is also a part time employee at the Gardena Flower Shop and a sous chef at Milagros, a Mexican restaurant in Midlight City.

Personality:

Eric is a kind and patient young man, who is very protective of his loved ones. He is an over-thinker and aims to be as non-confrontational as possible. Though he can be absent-minded and disorganized, Eric has a good heart and is very loyal. He enjoys simplicity. As much as he is ashamed to admit, Eric has a slight jealous streak. He has trouble being completely upfront with himself and others. Eric is shown to be a kind and mature young gentleman whom cares deeply for Claire, their friends and his family. However, he seems to be mostly unaware of Claire’s romantic feelings for him, causing their relationship to occasionally become strained. Eric enjoys cooking, running, weight-lifting, and occasionally playing video games.

Physical Appearance:

Eric is a young adult human male of half Japanese and half Mexican descent. He has a tan complexion, dark eyes and dark blue hair (with a lighter blue shine). He is very tall and is of slight muscular build. Eric is described as “decently good looking”. Much to his discomfort, he has frequently been described by others as looking “more Japanese” than “Mexican”.

History:

Eric was born May 16th, 1983, to Jae and Maria Tierra-Sekai n Midlight City, California. When Eric was 5, his little sister, Andrea, was born. He attended Midlight Elementary school, where he first met and befriended Claire DeLuna in kindergarten, followed by Avianna Valentine in second grade. In fourth grade, the trio met and befriended Hiram St. Fotia and Karan Indra. In fifth grade, the group befriended Sabine Ho, who was a new student.

Eric attended the Ursa Minor Middle School with his 5 friends. In 8th grade, Louis Estrano transferred to the school and Claire ended up befriending him on her own after Louis jumped out of the window of their second story classroom due to anxiety. Miraculously, Louis only injured his ankle, to which Claire was able to convince him to go to the school nurse for. Louis stuck close to her following the incident, and while Avianna, Sabine, and Karan didn’t mind Louis’s presence, Eric and Hiram did not end up befriending him.

The group of 7 all attended and graduated from Ursa Major High School. In their freshman year, Eric’s little brother, Javier, was born, making Eric 14 years older than him. When Javier was 8 months old, Eric’s father, Jae, was suddenly killed in a car accident, for which Eric was present and briefly hospitalized with minor injuries. Following the loss of income, Eric’s mother, Maria, struggled greatly to balance her job as an ER nurse and a grieving mother of 3 children, including a baby. To help, Eric got his driver’s permit as soon as he could and started working odd jobs around his neighborhood like mowing lawns, cooking, cleaning, and dog walking. Also wanting to help, Claire DeLuna offered Eric a part time position at her flower shop, which Eric accepted. Eric quickly became responsible for his 2 younger siblings most of the time.

In their junior year of high school, Claire’s adoptive grandmother, Hona was hospitalized for undisclosed health reasons, and Claire was left to live and manage the flower shop by herself. In order to ease the burden, her friends offered to step in and help work at the flower shop. Following graduation, Claire took on operating the flower shop by herself full time, and urged her friends to go and pursue their individual dreams / careers without worrying about her. Reluctantly, they did so, but Eric and Louis decided to keep working part time at the flower shop, even while they worked other jobs. Eric continues to work there currently, but now manages a full time job as a sous chef at Milagros, a local Mexican restaurant. Even though he has moved out of his family home and into an apartment, he still frequently takes care of Javier, since Andrea has moved out of Midlight.

- Metal: ability allows host to ferrokinetically bend natural and processed metal in a similar fashion to bending regular earth.

- An addition ability: Because of Eric’s Astral-Human status, the lunar astral crystal enables him to transform into his Endymion form and enables him to revert to his civilian human form.

Etymology:

The name “Eric” means “eternal ruler”, a clear reference to Prince Endymion’s status as the heir to the Kingdom of Terra.

“Tierra”, the first part of Eric’s last name, means “Earth” or “land” in Spanish.

The last part of Eric’s last name “Sekai” from his father’s side, is a Japanese word that translates to “world”, meaning the Earth.

Claire Starling is the main character and central protagonist of Planet Kingdoms. She is the reincarnation of Princess Callisto from the Moon Kingdom and the current owner of the Gardena Flower Shop in Midlight City.

Personality:

Claire is very sweet demeanor and happens to have a sort of 'wallflower' perspective of life. She's friendly, personable, and helpful, making her a fairly responsible woman. She's also fairly optimistic and stubborn. Claire deeply values her friendships with her friends and her adoptive grandmother, Hona. She believes them to be selfless people, and would do anything for them. Claire is an over-thinker and a people pleaser, often sacrificing or hiding her desires in favor of others. She can be argumentative and bitter. She is also the most emotionally sensitive of all her friends. Claire had a somewhat sheltered upbringing due to her adoptive grandma’s overly protective nature, and can be naive about strangers and their intentions. Claire was also pushed to be a proper well rounded young lady and despite her inexperience with much of the world, Claire repeatedly demonstrates decent intelligence by showing a great deal of academic dedication and proficiency in different activities, including chess and competitive swimming. Her worst subject is math. She is a romantic and an optimist.

Physical Appearance:

Claire is a young adult woman of unspecified (due to her adoption status) Latina descent with a tan complexion and light pink wavy shoulder length hair (part of which is typically kept in a bun). She has purple eyes, thick dark eyebrows and a beauty mark under her left eye. She is relatively short and petite in stature.

History:

Claire was born July 20th, 1984, to currently unknown parents and was through unknown circumstances separated from them by the time she was at the latest 5 years old. The earliest parts of her childhood, including where Claire was born, are currently unknown due to her adoption status. It is not known who Claire’s parents are, if they are even alive, or why Claire was given up for adoption.

At some point, Claire was adopted by Hona Starling as an incredibly young child and taken to live with her in Midlight City. Hona at the time, owned and operated the Gardena Flower Shop, where Claire would contribute to helping take care of the plants. Claire attended Midlight Elementary School where she met Eric Sekai-Tierra in kindergarten, where they quickly became friends. In first grade, Claire met and befriended Avianna Valentine. Planet Kingdoms is a personally developed project created by me @starrylapin in late 2017. I decided that I recently wanted to start sharing this project with you all and what better way to do that than build an online directory about information?

PK is an 8 season science-fantasy series (and fictional universe) centered around a group of six childhood-turned-young-adult friends who discover that they are reincarnations of destroyed alien royalty from the other planets in the solar system. The group then has to work to regain their abilities and memories from their past lives while simultaneously trying to track down the remaining 4 royal guardians in the Neo-futuristic city of Midlight. Threatening them and the entire earth come monsters and aliens being sent by those who caused the downfall of the 12 planet kingdoms and their previous incarnations billions of years prior.

Planet Kingdoms is ultimately meant to be a love letter to Earth and humanity, emphasizing connection and diversity. It also a personal project that has formed as a result of my many experiences as a human being and my artistic inspirations.

As of season 1 of Planet Kingdoms, there are 6 known Astral Guardians:

While the kingdoms have been destroyed at the time when the series begins, they are quintessential settings to the overall plot. The Kingdoms themselves are inspired mostly by varying human cultures and civilizations across history.

⟡ MERCURY is inspired primarily by Asia (specifically China, Vietnam, India, Thailand, and Malaysia) and the Middle East (Iran, Saudi Arabia). Mercury’s culture centers on knowledge, intelligence, medicine, travelers and scholars.

⟡ VENUS is inspired by various African cultures (Ethiopia, Namibia, Kenya), Ancient Greece, Mesopotamia, and Ancient Rome. Venus’s culture centers on love, compassion, spirituality, beauty, peace and freedom.

⟡ TERRA (now known as Earth) is likely the planet with the largest inspirational roster, ranging from the Middle Ages to the Mesoamerican empires to feudal Japan, with additional influences from Ancient Rome and Greece as well as Latin American countries such as Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil. The reason for Earth’s large range of affects is due to the fact that during the period in which the kingdoms are active civilizations, Earth is the only planet to exhibit 4 seasons, as well as the greatest diversity in natural environments. This span in biomes allows for people from the other planets (which primarily have only one kind of biome) to immigrate and survive on Terra. Change in season is culturally significant to the culture of Terra.

⟡ LUNA (the Moon kingdom) is primarily inspired by Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, with additional influences from several Latin American countries (especially Mexico, Colombia and Brazil).

⟡ MARS is inspired primarily by Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire, as well as various Native American cultures (Navajo, Osage, Muskogee, Powhatan, Cherokee, Tohono O’odham), some Mesoamerican empires (Aztec Empire and Mayan Empire), and African countries (Namibia, Sudan).

⟡ JUPITER is inspired by South Asia (primarily India and Nepal), with additional influences from other countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
