There’s a subset of our generation that lived off of Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, every artist Pitbull collaborated with, plus Lady Gaga in the Born This Way era, during the early-adolescence period that “should” have been our emo phase.
I’ve been revisiting some of my longtime favorites from this 2008-2012 era and realizing how many timeless songs came from that time. We’re talking Billion Hits Club on YouTube, still played at parties and on the radio.
Huge shoutout to y’all who had this music taste but felt out of place listening to it as an adolescent/pre-teen. Shoutout to those of you who found your safe place in this music and hold it close to you. Your music taste rocks, and it’s part of who you are. Own it.
