54th anniversary of the earth day movement.
In commemoration of 54th anniversary of Earth Day this year, local landmark buildings such as Sungnyemun Gate and Gwangan Bridge in Busan, as well as government buildings, will be held for 10 minutes from 8 p.m. on the 22nd. The Ministry of Environment announced on the 21st that it will operate the 16th Climate Change Week, including such activities, until the 28th.
The theme is 'Our bullet (small neutral) life (life practice), rather good!' On the night of the 22nd, government buildings such as Sejong, Seoul, and Gwacheon, public institution buildings nationwide, local landmarks such as Sungnyemun, Gwangan Bridge, Suwon Hwaseong, and corporate buildings, including Woori Bank, will participate in the lighting-out event for 10 minutes.
According to the Ministry of Environment, 53 tons of greenhouse gases could be reduced through the lighting-off event in 2020. This is similar to the amount of carbon absorbed by 3,000 30-year-old pine trees in one year. In terms of power usage, 107,603 kwh was saved. This is the power that about 4,000 people use for a day. This year's climate change week will begin with an opening ceremony at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on the 22nd, followed by a presentation of future generations of climate and environmental video contests, carbon-neutral celebrity lectures, and commemorative events for each local government. Art director Hwang Jae-yeon, artist Lee Dong-young, Sookmyung Women's University professor Ahn Young-hwan, and director Hwang Sung-pil will be on the podium. As a winner of last year's Cannes Advertising Festival, Art Director Hwang drew attention by introducing a campaign suit for the April 10 general elections made from discarded party banners.
