I want to talk more about my platonic and familials because I do think some of those bonds are really sweet. I’m not sure if I mentioned this but my Arcane insert was kind of like Powder and Vi’s de facto mom when they were growing up, even though she told Vander she couldn’t be the good role model the kids needed. But I think there were moments where she would bond with them, and sometimes she felt bad about not being able to be a proper mom figure. It’s cute though because in the alternate timeline (where Vi is ALIVE because I said so), in that scene where Powder talks to Vander I imagine she’d call Calista “mom”, showing that with time, her efforts were appreciated and she eventually comes to see Calista as a mom figure.

Today I was thinking about Kaiyo being a proper host mom to Miko unlike her technical host parents and doing “girl stuff” with her. Because even though Miko really likes rock and dresses more like a tomboy, I think she still likes “girly” things and painting her nails. So I could totally see Kaiyo taking her shopping or them going to get their nails done, and then going to a rock show together after. Or maybe a band performs at the restaurant/bar Kaiyo works at and she lets her watch.
Kaiyo is a good influence on her, encouraging her not to skip class and believing in her abilities (she makes Bulkhead help too). And Miko is more likely to actually listen to an adult like Kaiyo over June/Fowler because Kaiyo earns her respect and admiration over time.
That, and despite Kaiyo’s better judgement would probably give her a high five if she punched out a decepticon in her apex armor.

OMG I’m late sorry!!!!
R2 is on my platonics list for a reason he and Kaiyo are besties and the bane of Threepio’s existence. Like his best friend is chaotic AND his wife? Tough. R2 is sad when Kaiyo disappears for ten years post O66. But ofc when she finds Threeps again, she also finds R2! Kaiyo’s one of his favorite flying buddies, and she gets along with almost all droids, so that’s a plus. A couple times Kaiyo’s fallen asleep lying against him. Eventually, Kaiyo learns basic droid repair since you know, she’s dating one, and so she’ll help R2 out with little repairs here and there if she can. And of COURSE R2 is the vice president of the Kai3po fanclub (imo Chewie is the president). Pre-dating Kaiyo would sometimes vent to R2 and it would give him reason to go to his friend and be like “what are you doing idiot SHE LIKES YOU”

I’ve been meaning to post about her but I see Corin as Seline and Lycaon’s adopted daughter in a way, she especially sees Seline as a mother figure who encourages her to be confident and take no prisoners…easier said than done.
