As Kat Hernandez and Maddy Perez left the bathroom; Cassie Howard was left alone to gingerly clean the blood from her nose. She’d known this was coming for awhile, and though she’d always deny that she’d done anything wrong in getting together with Nate when the two weren’t together—And he’d pursued her—She’d never denied that she deserved this.
A shaky sigh fell from the young woman’s lips as Cassie wiped fresh tears from her eyes. In her mind she’d gone through two break ups that day now; One with Nate romantically, and one with Maddy, with their friendship. Swallowing hard, the blonde worked to fix the mess that had been made of what she’d been wearing that afternoon. No way in hell would she show up to Nate’s to pack her things looking like this. That would just be added humiliation. Thankfully, Cassie had another change of clothes in her locker. After changing and applying fresh makeup; She set off on her way to Nate’s.
It was a good thing that Cassie had waited, as the school was quiet as she exited the girl’s bathroom. She’d heard the standing ovation about an hour before, and the only people left in the school were some of the crew members cleaning up after the play. She was grateful Lexi’s show was one night only.
No need to relive all that more than twice, huh?
Finding her way towards Nate’s house was easy, as Cassie was all too familiar with the boy’s home by now. Pulling her key from her pocket, she pulled open the door, allowing it to slam behind her. She was upset—Yes, but part of her wanted to call him out. They’d already been through this, hadn’t they? Where he’d left her hanging and she’d been wondering what she’d done to be deserted by him when she so desperately needed to not be left alone. “Nate! Nate, where are you?”
Hurried legs headed up the stairs to the young man’s room; Down the long hallway to the door. With one swift motion the door flew open. “What the hell was that?” The blonde asked, watching him.
“You can’t actually tell me you think I had anything to do with that.
After everything we’ve been through? After everything I gave up for you.”
Anger… There was more power in it than crying, Cassie was beginning to find. It was something Nate had taught her... Aside from the fact that she was powerful at all. She liked that feeling better than the one that she had when she fell apart. That and she didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of putting her back together in that moment. How could Nate think she would do that to him?
