In the finale of wayneradiotv’s Half life VR but the AI is self Aware series, Gordon Freeman promises Doctor Coomer to give him all of his playcoins in the foreseeable future, the future being every event in the series.

But how many playcoins is that?

For those that don’t know, playcoins were a sort of currency you could use on the nintendo 3DS. If your 3Ds is in sleep mode, a pedometer would count your steps. For every 100 steps you earn one playcoin. You could use these playcoins in games to get hints or other features.

Adding up all of the streams, Gordon’s time spent running around Black Mesa and Xen is...

I am adding up the full VODs, meaning intros and outros spent not playing the game are being counted, but seeing as Gordon spent a good amount of time running and doing other strenuous activity, I think once steps are calculated it won’t make as much as a difference. (not to mention the fact you can trick the 3DS pedometer into counting more steps by shaking it.)

The average steps per minute is 100 steps at a moderate pace. Multiplying 100 steps by the total number of minutes brings us too

80,800 steps

How many play coins does that equal?

40 play coins

Um, you see, the 3DS capped off the amount of play coins you could earn per at 10. Assuming each stream is a full day for the science team, that's only 4 days, so Gordon could only possible earn 40 play coins.

But what if we took away that cap?

Then it would be 300 play coins

The 3DS had another cap, you could only have at the most, 300 pay coins.

Based on everything I've heard about the later portions of the game, I would probably love SMT IV if I had the 78 playcoins it costs to survive the tutorial.

Play coins on 3DS - maximum is 300

Did you know that you can have a maximum of 300 PlayCoins on the 3DS? Well I finished the Puzzle and Quest games on the 3DS weeks ago and I take the 3DS everywhere. I hit the maximum of 300 Play Coins the other week and have nowhere to spend them.

I do hope there is a StreetPass Quest ][ or something.
