playfreely / draft 2 / interpretations
across the grain, each second of uttered syllable soaked in the grammar of sound, i wonder who hesitates more, the creator or the audience? and in this hesitation, how many misinterpretations, compulsions of judgments and conflicts occur? because whilst i am excited by the harmonies, the mutual consonances exchanged, my mind wonders to every other corner of the black box except the light. who is disagreeing with the other's interpretation of space?
isn't it all a movement of time and space?
i look to the performers.
isn't it obvious enough? we are interested in the commonalities we have unspoken, the imagery we conjure without whispers and the ideals shared, accepted, without having to impose. but is this because we only choose to listen and acknowledge, without having to be dogmatic, idealistic, let alone specific about our preferences? or has it a lot to do with the fact that we'd like to create a good first impression with our fellow kind? all cynicism aside, almost every single time, the brittle nature of how we choose to communicate happens in the beginning. is it borne out of respect? how do we decide how to begin? what is the intended course we can all agree upon? it's all unspoken, it's not going to be decided by anyone, do we elect a leader now? or wait for the strongest and most opinionated person amongst us?
but perhaps it's not all that dark. perhaps it has a lot to do with the interest of creating, purely.
light.
us noisemakers of this century in this island have only so much time and we want beauty. we want to share a common beauty we know and believe in. it is indefinite, it is subjective, but truly if our interpretations of beauty is objective, no one will find the urge to surrender to us. because it is then when everything becomes superstructured. that is not our purpose.
i look to the performers. and i believe we are reminded that there are no ideals but our ability to communicate with one another using a language that each of our respective traditions have carved. there are no rules to beauty.
we float on a relative time frame. that is the only common ground. but one group isn't constrained to this. and the creators have no control.
i look to the audience.
in this instance, we have not been forgotten. or at least i'd like to think so. i believe, we are in some ways, part of the interactive process. amongst us, a fair amount of interpretation on what we are listening to. some of us have come for a particular creator, some of us, however, have chosen to suspend our expectations. have our creators deceived us? have they decided to go against what we would normally expect them to do? what is this sound? what is this you are partaking in?
in this darkness, i hear the essence of our tradition, the culture of that familiar language strikes, but what are you communicating with the others? how are you doing it?
we look to the performers.
despite the fact that i am in darkness, where you are, the epicenter of creation, gradually, i come to understand the ability of being in harmony, in unison with another language without difficulty. but have i misinterpreted anything?
or is that irrelevant?
