Floofs waiting to be fed in their wheelbarrow
Hope everyone likes hairballs and third-degree scratches 'cause that's all you're getting for Christmas.
Ah, what a majestic creature Tamer is.
Hedwig wants a handout while Harpy just wants a hug.
This PSA has been sponsored by CFKTHOSIEIWTP (Chickns For Keep The Head Out Side It Even If Wanting Tasty Pieces), in cooperation with ME (Mayo is Evil).
PSA within a PSA: she probably wouldn't have been able to get it off by herself so careful of what food containers you leave out with chickens.
Your chickens are so cool... My mom had chickens but they didn't like being touched or anything. Unfortunately they were killed by a damn raccoon back in the fall as it was getting cold :( but they were fun to take care of when I went home to visit.
Thank you! :) My jaw hurts from continually dropping at how many notes some of the posts are getting, and it makes me SO happy to see other people enjoying my goofy flock, so much more than I’d ever imagined.
It’s absolutely one of the most horrible things when a chicken dies, so having them all die from a raccoon…yeah…I think I need to go watch weird parrot videos or something now… There are coyotes and hawks out here, so keeping the flock safe requires vigilance (namely, locking them up when it’s dark), but it’s certainly worth it.
Chickens are smarter than many people give them credit for, and it can take some time to get them to trust you (tasty food bribes never hurt). It’s funny, because hens actually keep track of how nice roosters are to themselves and others, and ‘log’ their behavior for around six months. I try not to assume too much about how they think, but they certainly can tell humans apart and remember how nice that human is, or how much may have startled or even slightly scared them. So even if you were really nice to them when you visited, it would still take some time to get them to really not mind being touched.
Never try to understand the things the pigeons do. You'll only hurt yourself.
Rose really likes to photobomb.
