Something I both LOVE IMMENSELY and DESPISE about Death Note is how well they executed making every character so human.
Most media throws its characters into a clean cookie cutter stereotype/archtype that they never stray from. However, with Death Note, we see not only character development, but we see the characters occasionally act out of what we believe their character to be. This is so similar to real life because people will always surprise you when you try to put them into clean little boxes and labels.
And they give you just enough to theorize about who these characters are underneath, but nothing to have definitive answers and I think this is so true to life because in real life we make judgements of others based on our interpretations of their words and actions because we often don't know their true intentions and underlying thought processes and feelings.
Like there is not a singular character without nuance and depth, some more than others, but they all have it. And it just reminds me of that saying that goes like, "The feeling of realizing everyone has a life just as deep and nuanced as your own."
