You're getting wendigos wrong. The picture on the left is the modern and wrong depiction of the wendigo. The pale thing on the right is an accurate depiction.
The original folklore of the wendigo comes from Algonquian-speaking Indigenous people, like Ojibwe, Cree, and Naskapi, from the East coast of Canada, Great lakes region, and Northern forests of Nova Scotia. The folklore describes the wendigo as tall, sometimes over 15 feet, pale tight skin, bloody lips and fingers, and a ravenous appetite that causes it to not only consume others, but pieces of its own body as well. The more modern, deer-like depiction of the wendigo stems from an illustration from 1944 by Matt Fox, with the deer skull imagery being added by white artists.
Another Native folklore monster that DOES fit the modern description of the wendigo is the wechuge.
The wechuge is described to be a giant made of ice or a hybrid between a man and an animal. Wechuge folklore comes from the Athabaskan-speaking people, like the Dane-zaa, in northwestern Canada. The Wechuge and Wendigo are very similar. Both are man eating monsters that possess humans. But PLEASE start accurately depicting them. The only media i've seen that accurately depicts a wendigo is Until Dawn and i've seen NO media that depicts a Wechuge.
