I love this article about “ripped jeans” - not the ones you can buy now off the rack of course.
To quote writer, Ingrid Jensen’s article published on PleaseKillMe.com:
“Where would rock & roll be without blue jeans? More specifically, without ripped blue jeans. That is, blue jeans that came by their rips honestly, by long and hard wear. Cases in point: Joey Ramone and Iggy Pop.”

MUSING:
I don’t wear ripped jeans anymore. Not sure why. But that’s all I wore in high school [and sometimes in college although I’d switched to vintage dresses & converse]. Anyway, my father HATED my ripped jeans as well as my favorite ripped lime-green overalls, which I wore at least 3 days a week. I loved them. I felt safe in them, confident. Also... it was easy to dress in the morning. Of course, my dad and I fought many a morning when he was driving me to school. Until I broke him down versus the other way around. I wore them till I wore them out. Then I cut them into shorts.
