Age verification of all pornographic content will be mandatory from April 2018. But there are still a lot of grey areas
The UK has now entered a draconian era of porn prohibition. There are well-founded concerns about how age verification will work, as being forced to reveal your identity before gaining entry to porn websites will open the doors to blackmail, credit-card fraud and other forms of hacking. What I feel is most worrying however, is the government being allowed to block particular websites on moral grounds sets a very dangerous precedent for future internet users, especially considering the phrasing of the Act, which discusses “adult” sites with no exclusive emphasis on pornography sites.
