Cestraeus Plicatilis (Lobed River Mullet) or “Ludong” a rare and prized endemic fish that’s native to Cagayan river (Philippines). Also known as the “presidents fish” due to many previous presidents being fond of the fish. Once abundant but now in dwindling numbers. Habitat degradation and overfishing constantly threatens this once regularly occurring species

Spring has spuh-rung here! I've been busy picking dead tree leaves out from between agave spikes, mulching, weeding and snail hunting after the rains. It's been a good opportunity to watch the aloe do their thing over the past few weeks. Some slowly twist and divide, some telescopically push out bloom stalks, and others grow more intense in color as they soak up the warm rays of the sun.
My Leucospermum cordifolium, (the one I've been watching with the most anticipation) is pushing its pincushion-like flowers out and forcing people to stop in their tracks and say things like "Oh my word!" and "Would ya look at that, Martha!?"
