Culture yo Itawes
Tucked in the southern part of Cagayan, the Itawes culture quietly thrives in towns like Tuao, Rizal, Piat, Enrile, Penablanca, and parts of Solana. While often overshadowed by more well-known Filipino groups, the Itawes people hold on to a culture rich in language, food, and community values.
The Itawes language is warm and expressive—words like "Nasingngat" (Delicious), "Balay" (house)and "Kaw" (you) are commonly used in daily conversations, often mixed with Ibanag or Ilocano. It’s a language that feels familiar, especially in tight-knit neighborhoods and family gatherings.
Food plays a big part in their culture. Dishes like "Inabraw", "Pinakufu", and even "Pansit Batil Patung" are local favorites, shared during fiestas and family meals. Simple, hearty, and always best when shared.
Community is the backbone of Itawes life. Whether it’s through "Paggafu" (helping neighbors without being asked) or traditional customs like "Manulot" before weddings, the values of respect, cooperation, and family run deep.
It’s a culture that might not always be in the spotlight, but its strength lies in its quiet pride and enduring traditions—passed down not just in stories, but in everyday life.

This is what's currently happening in Cagayan Valley, Philippines right now. This is caused by the previous typhoon Ulysses. The whole place is submerged in water. People are screaming for help, drowning, and some already died due to electrocution. And we need your help to spread awareness because there's only little to no media coverage at all.

Cagayan, Phillippines needs help
Here in my country, the Philippines, my people - The Filipinos - are now not only having to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Typhoons just got thrown at us and the Mayon Volcano acting up. In Cagayan, people there especially need attention and assisting. With all the water, they really looked they’re swimming in some ocean. Please, if you can, spare some resources, spare money for them. If not, spreading it around your social medias are very, very helpful too.
I can't help but to think about how devastated my fellow Filipinos as of the moment--especially those who are severely affected by the typhoon ulysses. I can't do anything but to pray for them. For the family, for the souls that are taken away and for the whole place itself. I can't stand this events and circumstances happening to us now, but amidst all of this, hope we may find strength, peace, and hope. To our foreign friends out there, we ask and seek for your help and prayers.

If you're from the Philippines, then you are aware of the situation we are facing right now. As of right, two provinces from the Philippines, Cagayan and Isabela, are sinking right now due to a recent typhoon Ulysses and from opening 4 dams (correct me if I'm wrong). There is no media coverage and people are relying on social media to spread the word. People are drowning, children are drowning, families are losing there home and they are still screaming for help. As much as possible please spread the word.
