How Dan Heng managed to slip away from Preceptor Taoran, he never knew. These moments of freedom would later be chalked up as getting lost for Dan Heng was seldom allowed to venture across the delves on his own and most ferrymen piloting the Starskiffs knew to deny him passage if he asked. Promenading along the boardwalks that descending towards the Ancient Sea, a chill wind raced along the waters and buffeted him, nearly inverting the parasol he wielded from the force. Yet, when the wind calmed, a mysterious stranger seemed to be sharing the boardwalk ahead and taking in the view.
Dan Heng regarded him oddly, but assumed it was simply a patient told to take a walk while recovering. Making to skirt around him, Dan Heng disregarded the man as simply another stranger.
