Charles hinted at from season 2?

In season 2, episode 11, Spencer suddenly flashes back to the summer Alison disappeared. In this flashback, the girls had all been hanging out in Hanna’s kitchen with Regina (Hanna’s Aunt). Alison had mysteriously questioned Hanna’s grandmother about her two sons; Tom and Patrick. Alison suddenly asked what it would take to have one of them removed from her will. Regina had been taken aback by the question, but Alison pressed on with: if one of her sons sold an expensive family heirloom to buy drugs, would that constitute dismissal from the family tree? Regina had gone along with it, saying that anyone that messed up would constitute a truncated family tree.

So, the two questions here: 1. Was Marlene planting seeds for the Charles storyline all the way back in mid season 2? 2. Does Alison remember that she had another brother, who is now estranged? 3. Or was this line of questioning referring to Jason and his drug habits during high school

Why Bethany and Charles Aren’t The Same Person

For a while I loved the theory of Bethany and Charles being the same person, but then when I started writing my own theory about it I realised it couldn’t be. 

Bethany was in Radley up until the night Alison disappeared. But A started at Halloween before Ali went missing, Marlene says Charles has been in the show for a long time. No new kids showed up at school after Ali went missing so how could someone in high school also be in Radley? You could argue that Bethany too was sneaky out but 5 days a week for 8 hours? It doesn’t add up.

Yes Mona was the original A but it wasn’t just her on the night of Halloween threatening Ali, Lucas was involved too. The Dollhouse episode is stripped back to most of the core cast again. Charles isn’t someone that showed up after Ali went missing they were there all along, they just weren’t A yet.
