No sooner had the demon’s knees hit the soft soil of the forest floor, then the hail storm assaulting the town came to a stop. The all encompassing silence that so swiftly replaced the violent cacophony of noise from the ice as practically deafening. Well, to anyone paying the storm any mind that is...
SILENCE FALLS...
Though the storm was the key focus of many -if not all- within the town’s borders, there was a select group of players currently out in the midst of the forest whose attention was on anything but. The Scions might not have been strong enough to confidently approach the Nexus, but as in-tune with the source of their power as they were, the original demons amongst them could feel when the Nexus’ magic was even slightly disturbed by the presence of another magical creature in it’s vicinity.
And as they approached the edges and noted the two silhouettes -one standing menacingly over the second, currently hunkering on their knees in the middle of the Nexus- they could practically countdown the milliseconds until the fourth seal was broken. Erebus could practically see the moonlight glistening off the singular bead of saline that would bring them even closer to their destiny, and as content as he was that the seal was being broken at all, there was still the undeniable rage that was fueled by the knowledge that not only was he not the one directly responsible for this but, these children didn’t even seem to have an iota of an idea of what they’d just managed to do.
However, any questions or reprimands that may have been at the ready, died on the Scion’s lips as the tear that fell from the younger demon’s eyes finally hit the soil beneath him and in an instant it was greedily soaked up and into the Nexus’ forth seal. The tell-tale symbol show bright as the magic that coursed just beneath became ready to come forth. There was a loud ‘crack’ and everyone in the immediate surroundings of the Nexus were sent flying off as the magic that had been kept at bay by this last seal was released in a stream straight up into the night sky.
The Scions were the first to realize something wasn’t entirely as it should as the magic never seemed to make its way back down towards the town. If the rumors surrounding the fourth seal turned out to be true, they did not want to be found here. They were still a ways from being able to fight anything off. With one last glance at the other two, Erebus gave the signal for his group to retreat. For now...
...AND BLANKETS THE COLD
Meanwhile, at the high school’s gym, the sudden silence from outside has been noted and immediately questions start to flurry about what the prognosis is. Law enforcement are able to ascertain that the storm has in fact passed, but they announce they will be keeping everyone sheltered at the gym overnight. It’s far too late to travel in what could be some pretty dangerous aftermath to the hail and they want to be sure that the storm is well and truly over before releasing everyone to their own devices.
The supernaturals that made it to the gym among the other residents have all remained relatively quiet. While their mundane peers are asking after the storm that has ended, they can all sense there’s a much greater storm on the horizon. The shift in magic tonight was noticeable and in their relatively new experience there is only thing that can cause such a shift: another seal has been broken.
