Kylo could have been changed (or cut out cont)
Almost a month ago I made a post about how Kylo could have been left out of the rest of ROS after Rey stabbed him, just have him die there

I also think that he was originally planned to die, for the same reasons as in the above post, everything after he’s stabbed all seems like last minute additions, and along those lines, here’s another reason why: the TIE Fighter
The way he gets to Exogol is via a TIE Fighter,
So let me get this straight, there is not only a working, intact TIE in the ruins of the Death Star, but its also one with a hyperdrive and life support system? That’s a pretty big plot whole, seems to me that the writers either forgot or ignored the previously established rules of TIE Fighters (given that the head writer of ROS was the same guy who did Dawn of Justice this is fairly likely), or Kylo originally died and that was changed last minute and they needed to bullshit him a way to get to Exogol
Now there is still a way that he can be in it and work much better than what we got, for start, have the TIE Fighter be Vader’s TIE Advanced, which has shields, a hyperdrive, and systems normal TIEs do not, thus making it being there and in functional is a little more believable
Secondly, don’t have him turn immediately after being stabbed,
You still have Rey heal him, and that along with Leia’s death will bring doubt into his mind, but he is not gone from the dark side yet
He still is on Exogol but to confront Rey in hopes of securing his place as Palpatine’s successor, and Sidious is fine with this, whether its Rey or Kylo who wins one way or another he has someone to rule the Galaxy through, and that kind of manipulation is exactly in character for him
But through the course of Rey and Kylo’s duel Palpatine becomes aware of their force-bond and the power he can draw from it, eventually Rey gains the upper hand causing Kylo to beg for help, to which Palpatine responds by draining much of Kylo’s strength to fuel himself, and then doing so to Rey, bringing Palpatine back up to full strength, and leaving the final battle between the Last Jedi and Last Sith, and drained of most of his strength, Kylo is knocked out of the battle (so basically the same as what actually happened)
But from there Kylo is able to come to and finally become Ben Solo again, joining the Jedi spirits and lending the last of his life-force to give Rey the strength to defeat Sidious, dying fighting against the Sith as Ben Solo and becoming one with the Force
Now here we have Kylo turning back to the light because of A. the kindness Rey showed when she healed him, B. the grief and remorse at the Death of his Mother (and thus the last of his family), and C. as a result of betrayal on Palpatine’s end, this having the bonus of the Sith’s backstabbing nature backfiring on them, and furthermore, here he would actually contribute to Palpatine’s defeat
In the actual film he does nothing to help beat Palpatine, he gets drained and then falls down a hole, and all he really does is heal Rey and bring her back from the brink of death, which I am grateful for, I’d much rather have her in future stories than Kylo, but by that point not saving her wouldn’t change anything, Sidious was gone for good (or was he?), and the First Order was defeated, at least with my version he earns some form of actual redemption like Vader did by dying to defeat the greatest evil the galaxy has ever faced
