This is a really interesting article about the difference between outlining a story and spontaneously allowing the story to flow from within.  Most writers identify themselves as one or the other but many fall into both categories of writers.  

I'm a plotter by nature but I will allow creativity to flow in the midst of writing.  If something works better than what I planned, I'll move in that direction.
