Im going to ramble real quick. The other day i went to the mall with a friend, we weren't there to buy anything we just wanted to hang out and walk. We went to several stores and I tried on a few dresses. The problem? I'm a bit chubby not by a lot actually but just enough to where the largest sizes couldn't make it past my shoulders and ones that did fit were uncomfortably tight and had extremely thin fabric. Each store I left felling sadder and sadder until we stumbled upon
Torrid basically is a clothing store for plus sized women, I had heard about it but didn't know if it was actually plus sized.
It was relatively new to the mall, so me and my friend (also plus sized) decided to check it out and oh boy was it the best expirence I have ever had at any clothes store ever.
As soon as we walked in an employee (again chubby) greeted us and told us her name (We'll call her Lilly) and to call her if we need help. After a while of looking around we found a few dresses that we wanted to try.
When I got in that dressing room and as i put on the dress I got ready to look at the mirror then do the whole routine of texting my friend telling her that it doesnt look good and is too small then her responding with "same, lets just go". But folks. When I looked in the mirror I was stunned, the dress not only fitted me PERFECTLY the materiel was super nice and good.
But it was probably cause of the mirror right? Its one of those mirriors that make you look slim! I took out my phone I was just. Shocked. I felt pretty, for once! I texted my friend quickly and we both get out of our rooms, her's also looks amazing!
In awe both go to the middle where there's a giant mirror on the wall, as we stare still trying to process that the dresses actually looked and felt nice. Neither of us noticed Lily come from behind until she spoke
"Wow! You both look beautiful"
I loved every. single. thing. I tried on. And that is rare as hell. And the best part is everyone there was plus sized and complimenting each other, one little girl even looked at me and said "you look very pretty in that one!"
All these plus sized women were smiling and you can see every one of them feel more and more confident. Lily helped us the whole time and was super nice, the entire time she looked happy and a girl would come out smiling I would see her hiding her own grin as she put away clothes
In the end I bought one dress (one day I'll go back for the other two) and left feeling so happy for the rest of the night, I felt confident and pretty.
The point being. If you're plus sized and tried of stores labeling a size 6 as plus sized clothes. In other clothing stores i need to buy a large. In Torrid I was a small.
