#plush rescue

i got a clover puppy recently (if anyone saw my last pic post, this little fella may look familiar)!! BUT they needed quite a bit of care ...

here's the before/when they arrived:

INCREDIBLY cute but definitely needed a wash

then while drying them, i found out their foot was a little torn!?!? so i had to sew that and the... foot.. toe... strings.. you know what i mean i think

but behold!

after a good scrubbing, brushing, and some sewing, they're good as new!

so here's lucky 🍀🦴🐕

We didn't expect an emergency plush rescue on our walk earlier tonight! But I found this poor Play-Doh dinosaur plush in the gutter, complete covered in gunk and very upset 😲

Poor guy. I brought him home of course, where Gael and Itty Bitty went to work helping him look and feel better.

We started off with a quick bath.

And you can see it already did him a world of good! I'm going to let him dry a bit, get himself sorted, and perhaps ready for a listing when he feels up to it. We still need to learn a bit more about him. I'm just glad we were the ones who came across him!

guys, I think something terrible has happened...

I took Nublet, Minty, Nina and Chance for a walk in the Fairy Glen yesterday.

These are their pictures I took on 24/12 when they wrote their letters to Santa:

that's not my bear. that isn't my bear. it's wearing his clothes but that is NOT Chancey Bear!

something in that glen has taken my bear and left this thing in his place!

guys what do I do? I know the obvious answer is "do not go to a glen that the town council has explicitly warned you contains fairies during the liminal period between Christmas and New Year" but what do I do now, to fix it?

how do I get my bear back?!

Update on the horse I’m trying to restore! After four separate washes and a delicate brushing, the stains have mostly faded and he’s his natural color again. The most stubborn ones are the ones on his mouth/nose and his ears. I have a couple more things I’m going to try but if anyone has any tips or tricks, I’d be very grateful. I still haven’t figured out what brand he is or how old he is, but my guess is at least the early 2000s just based on the fact that other plushies I have that resemble him are from the same year. I’m considering re-stuffing him because I can tell his current stuffing is old (he borderline crinkles when I squeeze him in certain places). I’m quite happy with how he’s turned out so far.

This is my son, Honeydew. I found him abandoned and decapitated at an old house.

I'm not 100% sure he's real but he passed all the tests from the criteria I found online, minus having darker blush and inset eyes?

Not that I care if he's real or not, I love him either way. I washed him, sanitized him, and I just sewed his head back on and I'm experiencing cuteness aggression. My ugly fucking baby!! He's so cute and fugly and stupid-looking

He's my first real restoration I'm very proud of how he came out.

He was severely matted, misshapen, and severely under-stuffed.

I heavily altered his face with thread sculpting.

a well-loved little lynx

i found one of these lynx (lynxes?) at my local thrift store, and immediately fell in love with its charming face and huggable form. unfortunately, my parents were worried about mites and bedbugs, and i couldn’t bring it home. turns out they’re not produced anymore and the line is almost 20 years old, so they might be hard to find. fast-forward a few weeks, and i found the same model on ebay for 11 bucks. and now… he’s here!

he was pretty scraggly and i wanted to disinfect him, so i bagged him and put him in the freezer for a few days to kill any organisms that might be hiding in his fur.

aaaand heres lesson 101 on why you should remove old stuffing. you can see it’s pretty clumped and compressed, as well as dirty.

next it was time to give him a gentle bath! i used diluted Dawn dish soap and warm water. Dawn works well but actual gentle laundry soap is recommended, i just didnt have any on hand that werent those little pod things. as you can see the water turned pretty yellow, and i ended up having to change it three times.

i dried him off by first hanging him on a coat rack with a towel underneath to drip dry, then when just his paws and belly (where his beans/sandbags are) were wet i laid him out on the same towel under my window to finish drying in the sun.

lastly, i added all new poly-fil stuffing back in and closed him up with a ladder stitch! for my first time doing a cleaning/restoration like this i think i did pretty well!
