Thinking about PMD2's map, and how it makes sense. How big is the map?
From Treasure town to Mt. Bristle (both circled) may be considered a day trip. Drowsee walks Marill and Azurill–two small children–there by himself.
No real timeframe is given for the Drowsee incident. Were Marill and Azurill allowed to go away with Drowsee for a few days (unlikey), or is this considered a day trip?
Moreover, what hemisphere do we assume this takes place in? Easiest answer is obviously wherever you, the player, lives. But the cold, ice dungeon island being to the south intrigues me. It could also take place in the southern hemisphere.
That said, even if it is in the southern hemisphere, the cold on that island can likely be explained by how mountainous it is.
All that in mind, I think one interpretation of the PMD2 map is that it's an island somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere/South Pacific
