Chapter Twenty Two
“Time to wake up, Princess,” Negan said while placing a kiss on her forehead.
“Nooooo, come back to bed!”
“Ribbons, you’ve already missed yoga and breakfast. If you stay in bed any longer you’re going to have to skip helping Alex and Jenny out.”
She shot out of bed.
“Why did you let me sleep so late?”
“Oh no, Princess. I tried everything, and I do mean fucking Everything, to wake you up. You were out.”
Lunea was throwing on clothes, running around to get ready.
“Well, someone wore me the fuck out last night. I haven’t slept that well… ever”
“Didn’t hear you fucking complaining last night,”Negan teased.
“Last night was absolutely amazing. Thank you for all of it. The bon Fire, the stars, the fucking amazing sex. I love you.”
“You’re welcome, Ribbons. I love seeing you fucking happy. I love you, too. Now let’s go! It’s a busy day!” Negan handed Ricky to her while he swung Lucille up on his shoulder. Lunea sheathed her weapon and grabbed his hand so they could make their way down to the warehouse.
When they got their Alex and Jenny were already waiting. Jenny was practically dancing around.
“Ok, kiddos! I made a list of the stuff you are going to need and some stuff you may just want. This is a gift from me so let’s go crazy!”
Negan groaned, “Keeping you happy is going to be fucking expensive isn’t it?”
Lunea smiled a goofy big grin,”Only occasionally.”
Alex was reserved with his choices. Lunea had to talk him into a few things like a comfortable blanket and extra towels. Jenny was just as excited as Lunea. Within two hours they had filled up all the cartons and Lunea and Negan had signed off on it all.
“Well that was fun! I’m going to have Charlie and Rich help you guys get this up to your room. Then you have all day to unpack. Tomorrow it’s back to work and Jenny you and I are going to go around and see what families might be interested in starting a school. Sound like fun?”
“Blah! School?!” Jenny made a face and Lunea couldn’t help but laugh.
“Yes, school! It’s time to start trying to get things back to normal. But this school is going to be a little different. Along with the regular school stuff we will do weapons training, life skills, and emergency preparation. It will be fun. I promise! And you get to help me with getting everyone excited!”
“Oook! I get to spend the day with you, Miss Lunea?”
“Yup! You and me kid!”
Lunea gave them both a hug and walked over to her desk where Negan was waiting.
“Those kids are something special,” she said smiling.
“You’re amazing with her, Ribbons. Now down to the community business. I know you want to spread the word about starting schools in each community and the other things we discussed. I’m going to let you run the show for the most part. But we will be right behind you if anything should happen.”
“Got it, Coach!” Lunea laughed before pushing herself up on her toes to kiss him.
“Ok don’t make me get the hose,” Simon laughed as he walked in, “You Love birds ready to head out?”
“Simon, you are fucking lucky I like you,” Negan laughed.
The trio met up with the rest of the Lieutenants at the gate. Negan and Lunea climbed into the first truck while Simon got in the second. Shortly they arrived at their first stop, Alexandria.
Everyone jumped out of the trucks and Negan knocked on the gate with Lucille.
“Knock knock, Rick. Let us fucking in!”
The gate slowly opened and the group walked in.
“What are you doing here already? Wasn’t you’re last round up big enough. We have nothing left and now we are down one of our strongest members!” Rick yelled.
“Rick, Rick, Rick, believe it or fucking not, this isn’t even about me today. Lunea here has somethings she would like to say to you people and I expect you to give her the proper fucking respect!”
Lunea stepped forward and a teenage boy with one eye and a cowboy had charged to the front of the group.
“You’re the bitch that killed Rosita!”
Before Negan could react Lunea had Ricky out and pointed at the boy.
“You must be Carl. Nice to meet you. I’m Lunea. Yes, I am the one that sliced her head off. She tried to kill Negan. I don’t take very fucking kindly to people trying to take away people I love. We’ve all lost enough already. So how about you calm your ass down and listen to what I have to say.”
Negan was doubled over laughing and Lunea shot him a look. He stood up and stopped.
“Now, I am truly sorry for your loss. I did not enjoy killing her. But like I said, I will not stand for people taking what is mine. I’ve lost enough. We have all lost enough. I want to try to start getting some of what we have lost back. I want to start a school in each community. We are going to need volunteers to scout out schools and get supplies. We are going to need teachers. We also want to start all the communities on the point system just like all of the residents of The Sanctuary. We want to teach everyone the same inventory system we use. We want to work together. No more of this fucking bullshit infighting. Yes, Negan will remain in charge. But we will work together. Make the best of this fucked up shit.”
Lunea took a deep breath and looked at the crowd. She couldn’t tell what they were thinking.
“I know this is a lot to take in. It’s a big shift. But, working together we can start to rebuild. It’s our best shot. Talk to each other. See if we can put everything behind us. We will be back in a week for your answer.”
Lunea turned around and walked back out to the truck.
The group remained silent for a moment.
“That, ladies and gentlemen, is one fucking hell of a woman!” Negan yelled out before turning around and making his way back to the truck.
Lunea made close to the same speech at Hilltop and The Kingdom. By the time they were heading back to The Sanctuary she was exhausted.
“Lunea, I’ve got to say you were damn impressive out there,” Simon stated when they got back.
All the others agreed,clapping and cheering enthusiastically.
Lunea blushed, “Thanks I just hope they agree. Now, I need some food and some girl time. Negan, I’ll see you later? I’m gonna go try to catch up with the girls.”
“I’m fucking proud of you,” Negan said pulling her into a kiss, “I love you. Go have fun. I’ll be around.”
“Love you, too!” Lunea called as she ran off to find her friends.
