It was a rainy day,I was walking and I had my phone with me so clicked a few things. Included was this speeding Land Cruiser or 5door as we know it. While working on this picture in post processing,something crossed my mind. This vehicle costs about a K100,000. That is if its a standard Land Cruiser. However,mag wheels,snorkel and more obviously costs a little more. I wondered if we such a poor country why is our country littered with K100,000 vehicles?If only the rich could afford this then we must definitely be a rich country.Bringing back to memory a newspaper article I realized both theories are incorrect.Most of these vehicles belong to the growing middle class.I wonder what's in-store for our country. In PNG it is accepted for the drains to be overflowing and creating creeks,even rivers and sometimes even lakes in the middle of the road.There are countries where it rains everyday and harder and longer than it does here,yet.Give rain in the Capital 30seconds and watch rivers form.I'm not frustrated at the government,rather at the construction companies! I mean Civil Engineers are responsible for our roads arent they? Honestly though I don't see any engineering at all. If anything more evident is the ingenuity of streams of water ,as they flood the streets. INSTEAD OF MAKING NUMEROUS SUBSTANDARD ROADS,MAKE A FEW QUALITY ONES. Yes that includes DRAINAGE!! In this image the object of interest is actually in the background. The blue container that is sitting outside a newly built apartment complex. That box if steel is anything but,inside it holds objects that in this case have most likely traveled across oceans. From Lae maybe? But were these building materials made locally or overseas?? That means this container literally contains materials that have travelled oceans.
