Pocket Operator Mixer - Post 4
Not too much to talk about today. I started wiring up the circuit today.
You can see that in the top chain (which is the control voltage for syncing the pocket operators) I first cut individual pieces, then used a single stripped wire to “ground” the chain with small pieces bridging to the posts. After that I started stripping spots for the bridges only.
I flipped it over and tested the first strip, as well as the CV jacks with great success. This was very encouraging after some failed mockups.

In getting ready to solder everything together I anticipated some frustration working in the tight confines of the interior of the enclosure. This post is about my solution to that problem. I decided to make a mock uip of the interior of the enclosure out of a scrap piece of wood.
I printed an additional copy of the drilling template I made for the enclosure. I then attached it with adhesive spray and some duct tape. It should be noted that I should have inverted the image before printing it, or flipped the paper over so that the larger 1/4″ output jack was backwards. I noticed this later and corrected it.
I marked the center of the holes with a leather awl. This is not the ideal tool, but it was at hand so I used it. I then pilot drilled all the holes with a 3/32″ bit.
I drilled the holes to size with the same sized bits I used on the enclosure. (sorry for potato quality)
After all the holes were drilled I used the reaming pen and a sander to clean up the surface. This isn’t critical since its just a template for wiring, but it made me feel better. Next I placed the components upside down in the spot where they go.
When you are ready to solder, and your components are in place, you’ll want to make sure that your SPST (or in my case DPDT) switches are all oriented the same way. You don’t need to place all the components in all at once, just the channel you’re working on.
I removed all the Nuts and Washer and placed them back in the bag the component came in until they are ready to be installed in the enclosure.
