so, yesterday?, i saw that someone was complaining about the whiteness in the magicians and doing some comparison to harry potter or something etc and being racist [i dont remember sorry]

but basically, the main cast is full of POC

Rick Worthy is black

Arjun Gupta is indian

Stella Maeve is native american

Summer Bishil’s father is from Saudi Arabia 

Jade Tailor’s mom is part native american and her father is from Israel

and many prominent guest starring or recurring minor characters are poc as well

Jesse Reid is black

Garcelle Beauvais is black

Valerie Tian is chinese

Tembi Locke is black

Rizwan Manji is indian

Hiro Kanagawa is japanese

Yaani King Mondschein is black

and thats up to now. the rest of season 2 is bringing in even more guest and recurring minor characters that are poc

God fuck. Its so weird being in a family of POCs where proximity to whiteness is congratulated and the ONLY acceptable way of life. My entire family pushes each other to marry white people and live in suburbia. Its horrifying. And then those of us that don't subscribe to this lie, are out casted, called ghetto, trashy etc.

Its fucking heartwrenching seeing the way out culture has been stripped from us, and then we strip it from ourselves and each other.

SPECIALLY with things like cultural appropriation and how it hurts poc.....

One of the best parts of being mixed-race is the look on a person’s face when after they’ve been trying to figure out what kind of Asian I am or making vaguely racist remarks about how Asian I act, I look them dead in the face and say, “I’m Puerto Rican.”

It really makes my fucking day.

Okay legit question, how is wanting to know your ethnicity an uncomfortable question? Like, if we’re both in america, and you’re clearly not caucasian american or african american, then I’m asking you that questions because I want to start a conversation and/or know a little more about you.

Plus, “I don’t really wanna talk about it.” and “My grandparents are from X but I was born and raised here.” are both perfectly valid answers.

America’s a diverse place, and I love learning more about how diverse it is. How the hell is this a racist question?

As you may have guessed, I am a white, so I don’t really understand what it’s like to be not-white. Any at all elaborations on this would be great. I somewhat feel strongly about this, but if you guys got any insight that can change this opinion, I would be more than happy to hear it.

I don't understand why white ppl think they can say nigga™?? it rlly boggles my mind. Then they try to justify it lmao "racism is over" "slavery was years ago" "my black friend said I can say it" I am not your token black friend sweetie, if you say nigga or any other racial slurs tbh as a white, that makes you trash lmao, don't try to explain to me why it's okay, because it's not.
