Chapter Summary: The situation takes a dark turn as Goten and Trunks are trapped together.
Notes:
y'all my chronic issue is flaring like crazy and I feel like death but I wanted to make it in time for Juneteenth. Leave a comment if you've enjoyed! Happy Juneteenth and respect to people of color who are Othered every day.
Oh hey another rant oh gee.
Pretty short one this time but holy shit does RWBY not have a lot of people of color. And when there are they tend to be the villains.
Like okay top of my head non villain poc’s are Flint and….oh wow there it is.
I know emerald and Ilia are there too, but the fact that the two poc’s we accept as good guys had to go through redemption arcs kinda says it all.
Oh yeah and Fox for the two seconds he’s in this show with the rest of CFVY.
And it’s made all the worse with how they handled the white fang, and their idea for volume 10 in Vacuo.
I just remembered the grandma exists. Oh and Penny’s dad I guess.
Still crazy the main team, plus the other main team, plus the main cast of adults, plus the main villain, plus their professors, plus a majority of the side characters are all white though.
Ughhhh, why do all the shows I like suck at basic representation.
For god’s sake you made Blake be from Indonesia, darken that skin up!
There needs to be more dark skinned characters in Mairimashita Iruma-Kun. I mean there needs to be more dark skinned characters in manga in general to be fair. Only one I can really think of is Razberry and he’s just a side characters we’ve seen like 6 times at most
Minor tadc e9 spoilers
Honestly, I think Queenie is better POC representation then Gangl and Zooble
Don't get me wrong, I know it is a problem she not exists like real character just white man's dead wife with a five second appearance in flashback.
But there is one thing that other has not. Queenie is actually POC-coded. She is black chess figure with brown eyes. In her short appearance we can understand Queenie is Black at the first view. It works very cool in contrast with Kinger.
So why we can't see this in Zooble and Gangle designs. I mean comedy and tragedy masks is an obvious reference to european theatre. And it's not about designs, different cultures manifest themselves in small details such as eating habits, routine stuff, nuances in their philosophy just show it! What's the point of representation if we can't see it until the last moment. I think, adventure they offered in e5 was a good place to show it.
And that with their VAs? Queenie's VA is Black as her, why Zooble's and Gangle's is white.
So I suppose glitch just made two the most secondary characters in main cast non-white after the recent scandal to look more inclusive.
(impulsive stress ask) HI so about my previous ask actually I realized that question might have actually been really stupid like ungodly levels of stupid I'm so sorry for that 😭 You don't have to answer that or this one either I kinda sent that in a little bit of a stress moment cause I was thinking abt your previous ask and genuinely didn't know what to do cause I just wanted things to look rightbut I think I've got Amanda's hair figured out now... (Rebecca is still giving me a little bit of confusion but I'll figure it out okokok) Pls forgive me if that actually sounded like a stupid dumb 0IQ moment I'm still learning and tryin🥹g I hope this is understandable and I don't have to feel like everything I'm doing is wrong forever
what nooo it’s totally fine i loved that ask! im just busy making a lil diagram cuz if anything helps right. its not stupid to ask for help or how to represent something properly + the general internet isnt always right. most of the stuff I’ve learned about rep has been from tumblr too! it’s actually really important as a non poc that you try to learn about stuff like this if you don’t know already because there are so many ways to be offensive or insensitive accidentally. so you’re really good for asking about the specifics it doesn’t mean you’re dumb it means you care about how you present different people in your art :]
“Forced representation!” And it’s literally just a POC, queer, or slightly pudgy character existing.
I feel I can’t speak on behalf of POC because I am in fact a white person, but I see people way too much calling POC characters “forced rep” despite the fact that they’re just… being a character… involved in the plot… hello??
I see queer characters get called force rep for like, the same reason and the gender or sexuality isn’t even relevant to the plot?? I guess for some people it has to be relevant but then for that exact reason they’ll accuse you of shoving it down their throat. What do you want?? Do you want it to be relevant or not?? Decided please I’m so tired of some of you.
Pudgy and/or plus sizes characters get called forced rep for just being in the main group sometimes?? It’s really the same issue with the other groups.
My gripe generally is that people say “I want diverse casts and characters” and then they get mad when a character isn’t sheet paper twinky winky number 937 from the hit anime “I got hit by a truck and got isekaied and now I have a harem of suspiciously underage looking girls”
when the fic talking abt some “blush”
i can’t do that i’m black 😿
