Academia
Hey @ all poc academics, do you guys use reddit?? amino? discord? or a similar social site? I was thinking of making poc academia community but that'd be pretty useless if we're all only on tumblr.
If any of you guys are interested let me know! :) If this get up and running, I'll need people to help mod.
Creativity flagging-need inspiration!!
I’ve been feeling pretty uninspired lately and I wanna start getting back into more creative pursuits! So I wanna start making aesthetic mood boards again! If you want you can hit up my inbox with an idea and I’ll do my best to make one for you!

Ebonics/AAVE is truly an undervalued language, the idioms, patois and social dialects are so deep and historical but also creative and incredibly adaptable! Code Switching back and forth between Standard English and AAVE in the middle of my predominantly white English classroom and watching white students get whiplash from how sudden the changes are is exhilarating. Meeting with a group of my fellow students of color in between our classes and immediately dripping back into comfortable AAVE from the rigidity of Standard English is so refreshing and relaxing.
A Telescope is a Time Machine
If you ever want to time travel, simply look up at the stars. The stars are so astronomically far away from us, it takes millions of years for their light to reach our eyes. So, we see the Andromeda Galaxy not as it is now, but as it was ~ 2.5 million years ago. The entire galaxy could have disappeared while the ancients were studying it and we would have no idea.
That’s mind-blowing.
