We are guardsmen on the Suisha region of Pocket(TM).
Suisha is a backwater region of Agora. Pocket(TM) is a transport (bridge) network in Agora.
We are each aspon, a hybrid of sea anemone and clam.
Our job is to keep that which doesn't belong out of greater Agora. Usually we ferry out the pig-monkeys known as humans. We take them back to their home world, Stench D.
D's humans not to be confused with the Humen Grand Order.
These humans call this planet they call home "Earth". All uncontacted world name their home some variant of land.
Some wanderers enter Pocket(TM) by accident.
Despite their disgusting behaviour, we must treat them kindly. If they go too far, we are allowed to discipline them.
Some deliberately invade Pocket(TM) for nefarious reasons. Often backed by various authority groups of Stench D.
Stench H (New Iva) and Stench Xinqin-3 (Persephone) are friendly. They are however also more integrated into Agora than Suisha.
They are incentivised to keep their people a secret from Stench D. Mostly due to their proximity and an unwillingness to harm D's life.
They see D as place to be studied from afar, like a wildlife project.
Agora couldn't give an inch for D and marginally more for Suisha. The high crime rate in Suisha proper makes Agora dismissive. Suisha of course seeks to benefit from the ignorance of D.
Sometimes H and X3 show an interest in Suisha. Depending on events that could be either for or against criminal acts.
Controversially, H has stolen resources from D in the past. Due to the gap in technology, H's actions remained undiscovered. Thank goodness it didn't result in violence like the Port Ester event.
On that topic, we have the tentative support of a person of that event. A mysterious individual known simply as The Host is very nosey.
Note, not to be confused with hosts of Suisha, this one lives in D.
They own a refuge for exiled Suisha immigrants and their children. It's in their interest to keep both the Suisha and D authorities at bay. This often lends them to being a helpful informant to the guard.
Don't think that makes them trustworthy however. They're a dodgy dealer and will take any opportunity for personal gain.
D's Host seems to have a past with the Agoran nobility. They seem on bad terms, but the royals are reluctant to interfere.
I would say it's out of fear, but not directly about what 'Host' can do. Host's connections could make an awkward political scandal if public.
They're certainly one to use whatever they find for an advantage. Still, that observant behaviour is invaluable in investigations. As log as we have something to pay for the info.
Our district lies near Host's refuge, in an area known as HORS.
HORS here not to be confused with the HORS of OL-2C.
It's home to a lot of D's ocean dwelling residents mostly. The humans of D have ravaged the D seas thoroughly over the years.
Nowadays most of the former residents of the oceans live in HORS. The oceans of D used to be mostly untouched by the humans. So a lot of people seeking shelter made it their home.
Now the pesky pig-monkeys have invaded that place. They've already covered the areas above water.
This has lead to pollution and overpopulation on D. To meet food demands they use expansive trap nets in the D seas. Ocean food supply is far less regulated than their own farms.
This explosion of activity has made the D oceans unsafe. The humans don't intend to danger life outside of hunting targets. They also don't really care if they do in the process.
Yes, this is like taking a cheese grater to an open wound. The humans operate on the principal of 'out of sight, out of mind'.
They're also violent towards the unknown and apathetic of cruelty. Ironically they pride themselves on the pursuit of knowledge.
It's a shame we can't just wipe out their entire species. Literally everyone would benefit from their demise.
