MY DELICATE EATERS. #Toupee & #Potato are my gentle, slooooow eaters! As we know, #ratties can gobble up food like nobody's business but these two are just so darn dainty with their food! Such manners! 😹 When I first got Toupee, her and Potato did NOT get along. It took me a while to understand what was going on between them, as Toupee was getting along with everyone else and Potato was getting along with Roux. It was just these two that had problems. After working with the both of them, I realized they had something in common: both were VERY sensitive and insecure. Unfortunately, there was a lot of fighting and it was worrisome, so I ended up having to separate them and live apart. I was bummed there was a good chance they would never be able to be in the same dwelling. BUT I never gave up on them! I reached out to a few people who were rat pros in our community and they taught me very special techniques to try on the girls and I'm happy to say with persistence, a lot of patience and working on their fear, they are now BEST FRIENDS! In fact, of all the #rats , these two stick together the most! Isn't it funny when that happens? So now, we are one big happy family! And my two slow eaters can now eat delicately... together! 🐭💕🐭Nom. Pause. Nom. Pause. Nom. 😆 PS! Looking down from above... Is somebody there? Why it’s Zen!! These pictures, however, are from a while ago. Currently Zen is actually quite sick. I am using a dropper to make sure she drinks at least some of her medicated water each day, but I am not sure what else I can do to help her. I would take her to the vet, but if what she has is wettail - which is considered to be a stress-induced illness - then the general advice is to handle your hamster as little as possible to reduce stress, so taking her in a car to a whole new place to visit the vet might actually make her worse. It is so hard not knowing what to do.

DID I DO SOMETHING?
This is the face #Toupee gives me when she does something naughty. It’s so tough to say NO to this girl because she’s so damn cute! She really knows how to work that innocent “OH! Did I do something wrong? I’m sowwwwwwy” face! 🤣 I try to be stern and say no… but she immediately looks at me with those eyes and I melt. I swear she has me wrapped around her teeny #rattie finger! 🥰 PS- my favorite parts of Toupee are her puckered ears! They remind me of potato chips! 😆 Anyone else have #ratties with potato chip ears? 👂🏼Love my Toops!

OSTRICH.
When #Potato hides, she thinks if her head is covered, you can’t see her!!! Just like an ostrich. Silly girl! But, how cute is her teeeeeny little tail!!! I swear every bit of her is yummy! Potato is considered a mini #rat and one of the characteristics is they have much smaller and shorter tails than the average rat! There has been some debate as to whether she’s a #DwarfRat and some say mini-rats don’t exist. The controversy comes from the fact that although she has the dwarf characteristics of small, short hands/feet, small face, round eyes, super soft fur and short tail … she is the same size lengthwise as her standard sisters. Well….maybe not exactly the same size … as she might be a litttttle wider 😉😆 but overall, she isn’t small. So confusing. What do you guys think? Dwarf? Mini? Or maybe instead of labelling her one way or another….we just call her “Size ADORABLE”? ✨💕 *

ROLLS & ROLLS.
Look at Potato’s yummy #belly rolls!!! #Potato is not quite a #dwarfrat - she’s considered a mini-rat, which means she has short arms and legs (she drags her belly on the floor!), a teeny face, a short tail … and a “dense” body. Lets just say it…. Potato is a rollie pollie!!!I want to kiss her belly rolls all day!!! 🥔💕🥔 After my visit to the vet, the babies and I went to visit @martymousehouse to see Sarah and Bill and of course #KingBean ! Sarah put Potato in her hand and she sat there like she was in a Papasan Chair. I guess she really is a Couch Potato! 😂 Love you Pots!!!!
