I think I figured it out...

Women's clothing possesses a minimal amount of pocket space thus forcing women to carry purses, messenger bags, bookbags, etc in order to transport items. How long does it take you to fish something out of your bag? Not as long as it takes him to grab something out of his pocket, right? Now imagine that item was a gun or a knife? Can you fit one large enough to do serious bodily harm with the intent to possibly kill if need be in one of your little pockets without it being obvious? Likely not. So where do you put it? Your purse/messenger bag/bookbag...
