Lilith watched Brenda begin to doze. He smiled, pulling her a little closer to ensure she was in a comfortable position. “You’ve earned it.” He pressed a light kiss to her forehead, warding any bad dreams that might wake her.

A small brown tabby kitten gently pawed at the woman’s feet as they moved, hopping along as she walked.

They hadn’t been able to get her back. The explanation wasn’t clear, but Brenda was gone, and Claire was here forever now. He kept watching the woman, hoping it was a joke, but since the relationship between him and Claire was so sour, it was obvious to tell it wasn’t a joke every time the woman looked at him. She wasn’t kind to him, and, was actually more and more cruel to him as the days went by.

So, they had a funeral for Brenda, since she wasn’t coming back.

And Baruch lost a parent.

She’d stumbled upon a small picture of a young man, standing profile to the painter, a large smile on his face an a sparkle in his eyes.

“Where on earth did you find that?” He thought he’d lost it, snatching the picture back from her. Why were all these old things surfacing now? He looked down at it, dusting it off. “I haven’t seen this in.... ages...”

Tea time

He flicked his hands for the last time, putting everything in his little domain in a neat order. Perfect for a spot of afternoon tea. And maybe a happy reunion. Lilith grinned, a big ear to ear grin. Good things were going to happen, he could feel it.

He turned to the door, rubbing his hands together. Linking it to Claire’s home he knocked loudly. “Claire~. It’s Lilith, I was hoping we could have our tea now. If it’s not too much trouble, of course!” He chuckled.
