Can you imagine witnessing your dad's biblically horrific violent death as a child with your brother and everyone thinks it's a tragic accident and your mother, who you were never really that close to before his death, gets irrationally angry at you whenever you try to talk about your father or the impossible circumstances around his death and tells you you're crazy and a pathological liar who can't be trusted, and your brother is so traumatized from also witnessing his death that he sides with your mother and lies to your face and also calls you crazy and a liar and turns a blind eye to your mother's increasingly severe paranoia induced abuse and manipulation, so you run away from home with your girlfriend who's a lot older than you when you're 15 and have no contact with your mom or brother, and then years later you find out your girlfriend, who's been a jerk this whole time, is leaving you for someone else and is taking the cat you adopted together, and while you're trying to get your fucking cat back, your brother breaks years of no contact to tell you that he's married, him and his wife are expecting a baby, and also now your mom just fucking died so you need to come back to your small town to help plan her funeral and sell her giant house full of secrets you frankly don't care about at all, and you are guilted into the entire thing because your brother is making her death due to an illness "worsened by stress" your fault because you ran away from home and ruined her reputation, and you're already in an insane post toxic breakup/mid feline custody battle bender, so you curse him out and break down about it but agree to go back to your hometown with the secret intention of trying to get your sister in law to leave your brother before their baby is born and to also maybe process some of your extensive childhood trauma you've been repressing with horrific attachment issues and untreated mental health issues, but it turns out things are even more fucked up in your hometown except for this lesbian with problems who adopts you as her pet freak because she's obsessed with how insane and dysfunctional you are who you sort of fall in love with and start being able to value yourself and others amidst The Genuine Horrors?
