All your needs, met by the push of a button. A world lived through screens. No need to leave your room, or even your chair.
How would you feel if we told you these words were written nearly 120 years ago?
New episode of Dystopedia this Thursday: E.M. Forster’s The Machine Stops, the eerily prophetic short story that imagined our digital future before the internet even existed.
One for a Story Two for a ...
“Even if they discovered the cure for infertility, doesn’t matter. Too late. World went to shit. Know what? It was too late before the infertility thing happened — for fuck’s sake.” — Theo, Children of Men
Before the bombs, before the cages, before the last birth — the world was already broken. In Children of Men, infertility isn’t the cause of collapse. It’s the result of a society that has lost all hope.
Does humanity deserve to go on — or have we outstayed our welcome?
New episode drops Thursday AEST.

Observations
A work of art, its patterns shifting slightly as you look at it from different angles . When you put it on your head the world outside becomes strangely muted. Voices get farther away, colors fade, time slows. Those who wear it say they feel an overwhelming sense of separation, not just from the world around them but from themselves. As if they are watching their own body from a step removed. It doesn’t make you invisible but people seem to glance past you as if you’re not fully there. Doesn’t collect dust or age. Prolonged use leaves you with an eerie feeling of absence, and long term dissociation.
Additional Notes
Veil’s effects may vary based on the wearer’s state of mind. Attempts to alter the veil fail, as its threads reweave overnight.

I don't know how long I've been here today. The clock says one thing, but my body insists it's been hours, maybe days. Time has always been slippery in this place, but now it's becoming outright cruel. I feel like I'm being watched—not just by the Archive, but by something else. Something I can't quite explain.]
Extinguished, but never gone.
