Hi!! Fellow podcast-listener who may or may not be looking for a different podcatcher bc spotify is expensive and I am but a poor theatre major; what's your preferred podcatcher/(s)???
Hello! I've used Podcast Addict ever since I got into podcasts and I love it! The android app is free, and while there are ads, they're so small and non-invasive that I literally never notice them. And it has a bunch of features I love, including:
You can manually or automatically backup your subscriptions and listening data so you can easily move it all to new devices
Ability to adjust listening speed faster or slower
Ability to both add shows with their search function and put in rss feeds directly
You can set it to automatically look for new episodes at specific times (once a day at a certain time, every 12 hours, etc.)
You can set it to automatically delete downloaded eps after you finish listening to them to help manage your phone storage
Ability to check listening stats (both for individual shows and the app as a whole)
And a lot of other cool stuff! I've also never had any issues with it, and I've been using it for over 5 years, so it's really reliable in my experience.
The only potential downside is that they don't have an iphone app, but if you have an android I can't recommend it enough.
(Apologies if you do have an iphone. I wish I had recs for that, but I've only ever had androids so I have no clue what iphone options there are or how well they work. 😅)
