i learned to sing before i could read

the first song i learned was gabriella’s solo song from the first high school musical movie

my favorite book was a strawberry shortcake picture book

i had a huge collection of dolls and plush toys (i still do)

when i was two years old, i had a habit of running into bathrooms to stir the water in the toilet (this is gross but unfortunately, it’s true)

i spaced out constantly in kindergarten

at age one, i broke a tv by turning it on and off over and over again

my first favorite food was corned beef with rice

when i would get tired of smiling for pictures, i would cover my face for the rest of the pictures

my nannies bought me these magazines of the lyrics to all the current hit songs so we could sing along when we listened to the radio

i really wish i could talk to you right now because lately it just feels like i have to walk on eggshells around everyone in my path. my family means well, i’m sure. however, i can’t help but feel that i want out already. no joke, i’m this close to marrying you early (which is a senseless thought as i’m writing this at seventeen years old, before i’ve even met you). i just want to speak freely and be myself around you already because although i don’t know you right now, i get the feeling that i won’t have to walk on eggshells around you. you most likely won’t always agree with everything i say (believe me, i actually want you to be like that), but i know you’ll let me breathe. this week in particular has been really hard on me. for now, i’ll just imagine your arms wrapped around me, hugging the unnecessary drama in my life away.

i am many things.

a fallen honor student,

a heartbreaker,

an actual real-life disney princess,

a huge doctor who geek,

an aquarius,

a ukulele playing ambivert,

a mediocre-at-best guitarist,

a starbucks enthusiast,

a poet.

it all fits together, almost like a puzzle.

in spite of knowing this, i still don’t know myself that well,

for i am still collecting my pieces.
