in further news, i am now officially farther into Path of Exile that I have ever gotten.
This league is Settlers of Kalguur and you get a little plot of land for your "town" that you then have to upgrade using the new currency of "gold" that drops as you kill monsters. With your gold you upgrade your town and its various subsystems (mining, smelting, runesmithing etc) and pay all your workers to do all the, you know, work while you're off slaying monsters. You farm stuff and mine stuff and send out the farming and mining stuff on your ships to trade with your neighbors to get loot back and honestly, its been a refreshing little league. Now there's a built in excuse to stop every half hour or so and see what the deal is back in town.
As for myself, I'm running Pohx's build for Righteous Fire/Chieftain and its been a helluva lot of fun, but I've just started to hit the wall where I really need to start crafting the better gear or getting luckier with the drops. I'm on Tier 8 maps and they're do-able with reasonable modifiers and only a couple of deaths, but I am dreading Tier 9. I did manage to get the unique belt I needed out of the Bestiary fight mode (on the first try, no less!) but I think that's probably the last good thing that's going to happen to me for awhile. I looked up what Pohx had to say about crafting the rest of the needed gear and its the usual thing with Path of Exile - five or six steps, sure, but every one of them to be backed up by hundreds of spendable currency and the luck of the RNG draw to get the needed stats.
On the plus side, I made Tier 8 maps! The Maven has been taking an interest in me, that's amazing. Thank you Pohx for loving your Righteous Fire guy so much you wrote down the recipe for it on a whole ass website with support notes for us terribly casual guys to have some fun with as well. You're the best, and I really mean that.
